I am so grateful that Frank and the team at The Athletic Clubs of Little Rock gave me the opportunity to join the Personal Training Directors group because it has revolutionized how I approach my role.
Much like many other leaders in our industry, I stepped into my role because I was driven and was a decent personal trainer, but that didn’t mean I had the knowledge and skills needed to be an excellent personal training director. Before I joined REX, I felt like I was testing out concepts and strategies all on my own. While some percentage of them were successful, I felt like I was wearing out my team and wasting time by not having all the answers.
Once I joined REX, I felt like I was no longer alone in the trenches trying to troubleshoot everything on my own.
Our leader Dan Duran and every member in my group were so supportive and answered all of my questions with wisdom from their years in the industry. I was able to create a playbook for my department that I didn’t have to write from scratch, but rather I could pull from the mistakes and successes of the entire group. The turnaround in the success of the department was clear from day one as I began to apply the strategies we discussed in meetings. But, far more importantly, the way that I approach my role and my responsibility as a leader has forever been changed by every REX member I’ve encountered.
I have found a community of people who strive to become better every day and are looking to be the positive change that launches our industry into the future. That kind of community is absolutely invaluable for leaders of all kinds and at all experience levels.
