Photobiomodulation: A Minefield of Red Light—or a Member-Retention Opportunity?
For premium clubs, retention increasingly depends on creating experiences members cannot easily replicate at home. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is gaining attention across recovery and wellness, but the red-light market can feel like a minefield: panels, beds, pods and devices may look similar while differing dramatically in comfort, consistency, wavelengths, serviceability and operating model.
EnergyLounger was built from the ground up for commercial wellness environments. Rather than adapting a traditional flat LED bed, we created an ergonomic, full-body lounger designed to deliver a relaxing 20-minute experience. Its triple-core LED technology combines 630nm, 850nm and 940nm wavelengths, with pre-programmed modes supporting skin rejuvenation, muscle recovery, pain management, immunity and full-spectrum sessions.
For club operators, however, the technology is only part of the story.
EnergyLounger is plug-and-play, sensor activated, simple to clean between sessions and can operate without a therapist remaining in the room. That means low labor requirements, minimal consumable costs and an amenity that can be incorporated into memberships, recovery programs or premium add-ons.
Its modular construction is designed for longevity, allowing components to be serviced or replaced rather than replacing the entire system—helping control long-term maintenance costs.
Most importantly, PBM can become a repeatable member ritual: relax, recover and recharge before or after training, golf, tennis or a demanding day.
